It’s no secret that we love Frome – it’s where we’re based and we challenge anyone to visit and not fall in love with the place!
With it’s quirky and individual charm to it’s remarkable community spirit, if you’re not a Frome Fan, then it’s because you’ve never been.
It’s got character
Frome has more listed buildings than any other town in Somerset (more than 500!). The streets are unique and quirky, while still coming across as robust and avoids being too twee.
Sheppard’s Barton and Catherine Hill are particularly beautiful, boasting an assortment of stunning 17th and 18th century houses.
It isn’t far from vibrant cities
In our opinion, living just outside of the hustle and bustle of city life while still having easy access is the best of both worlds. Frome is just half an hour from Bath and a little further from Bristol.
Bath is particularly charming and has a rich history along with one of the best Christmas markets in the country!
A great community spirit
Frome has been focused on local and independent businesses since at least the 15th century. Residents are loyal customers of the local businesses to this day.
There’s an outstanding market on the first Sunday of every month, which showcases quality handmade products from independent businesses, and delicious local produce.
The council makes sure that residents and visitors always have a selection of different experiences and activities to try out. This is a town that really cares about its community, and it shows!
It’s big on the arts
The town has a thriving art scene, which is showcased in the annual Frome Festival during the summer. The festival gives you an opportunity to see the studios and work of a number of talented artists, and to attend many different astonishing exhibitions – they sell out every year and is an event that everyone gets involved in!
The Cheese and Grain also host regular art exhibitions throughout the year, featuring local, up-and-coming, and renowned artists. If art isn’t your thing, Frome has two newspapers and its own radio station, appealing to all the creative types, from writers to music lovers.
If you decide Frome is the place to be, you’ll be in good company! A fair few successful people have lived or been raised in and around Frome, including Jenson Button, the F1 racing driver, Kerry Wilkinson, the best-selling author, and Guy Green, the famous film director.
It’s fair to say we’re all pretty proud of our little town – and once you’re here, you’ll understand why!
